A successful national holiday – open day at the Starthaus am Hahnenkamm
A new idea was implemented for the first time on 26 October 2025, Austria's national holiday. The idea of those responsible for the start house was to give a wider audience the opportunity to visit the premises and technical facilities at the start of the Hahnenkamm races. The start house and the mobile Red Bull Energy Station, which had already been set up alongside it, opened their doors to interested members of the public and HKR fans from near and far. Bergbahn AG supported the idea and offered discounted day trips for adults and children on that day. Christian Huber from the Legendencafe and his team provided a selection of food and drinks for refreshment. No one had any idea how many people would accept the invitation, especially as it had snowed in the previous days and the weather on Sunday was interspersed with rain and snow showers and the temperature was very cool.To the delight of everyone involved, however, over 700 people (!) came to visit the Starthaus. Gerhard and Martina Raffler, who are responsible for the Starthaus, had spruced it up, and the long-serving officials of the Weisenrat, honorary member Wilfried Leitzinger, Hans Gosch and Fritz Brunner, gave guided tours of the premises for almost four hours, drawing on their extensive knowledge.
Mathias Mauerlechner and Helena Huber from the office prepared an informational video with KSC President Michael Huber as presenter, as well as many photos and printed materials, which were displayed in the main room on the first floor and told the story of the development and construction of the start house on the Hahnenkamm. The mountain team had decorated the start house in style for the day with red, white and red flags. After fog and snowfall at the beginning, the weather cleared up during the day, and hikers and cyclists from the valley who were using the day for a fitness session also found their way to the start house. The guest who had travelled the furthest was our long-standing K.S.C. member Alfred Hufnagl from Styria, who stopped by with his youngest grandson. It was a successful national holiday with many positive impressions of the organisation of the start of the Hahnenkamm races.
