European Cup commentary with British “banter”

European Cup commentary with British “banter”

David Jamieson and Alister Reid from the Londoner commented the livestream of the European Cup race in Kitzbühel - and they've never done it before.

Anyone who watched the international livestream of the European Cup race in Kitzbühel on Sunday heard straight away: There are two entertainers on the microphone. But it wasn't two professional BBC-commentators. David Jamieson and Alister Reid from the Londoner in Kitzbühel were at the microphone. One is the owner of the traditional pub, the other provides the live music with the band “Short and Curlies”.

Jamieson and Reid have never commented before and couldn't really prepare: “We were asked two days beforehand,” says Jamieson. “It actually went well,” Reid said, adding with a laugh, ”but I'm glad it's over.

It was Dr. Michael Huber’S idea to of have Jamieson and Reid commentate the livestream: “I asked myself: Where in Kitzbühel can you find native English speakers who could commentate? In the Londoner, of course!”

On Sunday, the stream was therefore commentated by two Brits, who made the whole thing refreshing - they have a flair for entertainment, gave the European Cup race a British “banter” and delighted the spectators. After all, these things also attract countless ski and après-ski fans to the Londoner every year: The traditional pub in the heart of Kitzbühel is known worldwide - at least in the ski world. And the name “Londoner” says it all, as almost all of the bartenders are British.

The famous pub in the heart of Kitzbühel is known worldwide for its lavish parties after the Hahnenkamm Races. This year too, the three Streif-winners tore the London apart: The pictures of winner James “Jack” Crawford (Canada), Alexis Monney (Switzerland) and Cameron Alexander (Canada) went viral. Topless, and their heads freshly shaved - all kinds of spirits were poured into their mouths.

Will the Londoner have to close now that its owner has embarked on a new career? Jamieson laughs: “No!” However, the commentary duo is not completely averse to future jobs: “We'll see,” says Jamieson. In any case, the commentary world has gained two natural talents.
