Take the free ‘Hahnenkamm Express’ to the Races
Dear fans, take the train to Kitzbühel. Hahnenkamm railway station is not far from the Streif and Ganslern finish area. The ÖBB ‘Hahnenkamm Express’ runs free of charge between Kirchberg and St. Johann in Tirol. From 24th to 26thJanuary 2025, ÖBB will once again be providing mobility for fans at the Hahnenkamm Races. Austrian Federal Railways have been an indispensable partner during race weekend since 1997. During the Races, Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm station, in the immediate vicinity of the finish stadium, transforms into the railway hub for Alpine ski racing.
Special service: Innsbruck – Hahnenkamm
ÖBB is well prepared for the race weekend to ensure that visitors have a stress-free journey to and from the event. ‘Our aim is to get fans to the races and back home safely and on time,’ explains Markus Moser, Project Manager at ÖBB-Personenverkehr Tirol. ÖBB (Austrian Rail) is offering a special service this year, from Innsbruck main station (departure: 08.00 hrs.) directly to Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm (arrival: 09.18 hrs.) for the Downhill classic on the Streif on Saturday. There will be additional stops in Schwaz, Jenbach, Brixlegg and Wörgl main station. Also on Saturday, train attendants from Italy, Switzerland and Germany will be on board together with their ÖBB colleagues as contact persons for the international public.
Perfectly located train stop
Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm train station is ideally located, just a few minutes' walk from the finish slope. A modern guidance system ensures easy orientation. The logistics centre in Innsbruck handles schedules, supported by the ÖBB operations control centre set up on site. In close coordination with the organisers and the police, smooth operations are guaranteed.
From Friday to Sunday, trains will stop more than 360 times at Kitzbühel Hahnenkamm station. That's around 180 additional stops compared to a normal weekend. ‘With our tried-and-tested concept, we are once again well prepared,’ says Martin Holleis, Head of Operations at ÖBB-Infrastruktur Betrieb. Regional trains will run at double capacity with 400 seats and at peak times at 7.5-minute intervals - similar to the frequency found in Vienna. A total of over 80,000 additional seats are available. ÖBB recommends that fans arrive early.
