Clouds of Powder

After an abundance of fresh snowfall, Bergbahn Kitzbühel Cable Car Co. is currently assigned with the task of transforming the masses of new snow into a compact racing surface. KitzSki not only provides additional snow-making facilities for the racecourse, but their snow groomers are also responsible for ensuring its even distribution.

In the meantime, Kitzbühel Ski Club is working on the areas around the Streif and Ganslern finish lines, where the snow is prepared with the help of a quad bike and a sand-filled roller. Why? The weight causes the snow to compact. This is necessary on the Rasmusleitn slope in the spectator area, at the rescue helicopter landing sites and the areas where media commentator’s booths are set up for worldwide tv broadcasts. And the pictures don’t lie: This work “is great fun“ for quad driver Jakob.
