Ferstl and Paris at the gondola presentation ceremony- “We’ll be back next year!"
Dr. Josef Burger, CEO of Bergbahn AG Kitzbühel (Cable Car Co.) presented Hahnenkamm Super G winner 2019 Pepi Ferstl (GER) and Hahnenkamm downhill winner 2019 Dominik Paris (ITA) with “their” Hahnenkamm gondola today. The ceremony was heartfelt and steeped in emotion and memories. Pepi's father, Sepp, who won the Hahnenkamm Downhill exactly 40 years ago, was especially proud. It was Paris’fourth victory at the Hahnenkamm.
Dr. Michael Huber, KSC President and Chairman of the Hahnenkamm Races, was delighted about the great interest and the many friends, fans and media representatives in attendance. "It is always a special honour to welcome the athletes here". Felix Neureuther and Marco Büchel, who have already received a gondola, were also present. They did not want to miss the presentation ceremony for Ferstl and Paris. Sepp Ferstl, who won at Kitzbühel in 1978 and 1979, was visibly moved. “It is an extraordinary experience, when your son also wins at Hahnenkamm.”
Tourism President Signe Reisch and Mayor Dr. Klaus Winkler warmly welcomed those present. Burger presented a special award to DSV trainer Wolfi Maier for his steadfast commitment. Maier: "I am very surprised and would like to say that I accept this award on behalf of the entire coaching team." It was yet another successful celebration and presentation ceremony. Everyone called out at the end: “We’ll be back next year!”
