The "Hahnenkamm Juniors" (at that time as a parallel team competition) is held for the first time on the Rasmusleitn. A new race for young Austrian skiers as a prelude to the Hahnenkamm races. Team Tirol 1 wins.
The weekend will be a triumph for Austria and Hermann Maier! He wins the Super-G and - for the only time - also the downhill. Benjamin Raich (AUT) can't be beaten in the slalom - the fans are completely overwhelmed!
In the area of the mousetrap, air mats are being installed for the first time as a safety barrier on the downhill run.
