Finish House Invites Public to Open Day
Take a peek behind the scenes of the iconic Hahnenkamm Races, explore the legendary Avenue of Champions and pay tribute to skiing icon Anderl Molterer: on Monday, 26 October, Kitzbühel Ski Club invites the public to an Open Day at the Red Bull Finish House from 11 to 15 hrs. Admission is free.
On 26 October, Austria’s National Day, many institutions open their doors to the public, including the Austrian Parliament in Vienna and the provincial government building in Innsbruck. Kitzbühel Ski Club is no exception. Following last year’s open day at the Start House, this year it invites visitors to the Finish House of the Hahnenkamm Races. Fans of the Streif, the Ganslern and the rich history of skiing are welcome at the Red Bull restaurant, with free admission.
Highlights of the day include the opening of the legendary Avenue of Champions, linking the finish area to the building, and the official unveiling of Anderl Molterer’s trophy and medal cabinet at 13.00 hrs. The skiing legend and member of Kitzbühel’s famous “Wonder Team", who passed away in 2023, bequeathed his extensive collection of trophies to Kitzbühel Ski Club. It is a remarkable collection: in the 1952/53 season alone, Molterer triumphed in an astonishing 19 races across all disciplines.
He claimed nine victories in Kitzbühel, his hometown—more than anyone else in the history of the Hahnenkamm Races. Anderl Molterer won the combined event four times, the slalom three times, and the downhill on the Streif twice. "It didn't matter to me which discipline I was competing in. I was just as good at downhill as at slalom or giant slalom," he proudly recalled in a 2020 interview.
Yet there is far more to see than the accolades of the "White Blitz of Kitz". Hahnenkamm race officials will guide visitors through the Finish House, offering exclusive behind-the-scenes insights. Guests can also enjoy an exhibition of vintage Hahnenkamm posters, a documentary on the history of the KSC and its youth development schemes, and access to the Finish House terrace.
The Open Day takes place on Monday, 26th October, from 11 to 15 hrs, come rain or shine. Parking is available at the Ganslern lift, and you can collect exit tickets inside the Finish House.
P.S.: Tickets for the 2027 Hahnenkamm Races are available via the online shop.
