50 years after his victory in Kitzbühel - chamois for Hansi
Hansi Hinterseer secured slalom victory on the Ganslern Slope in 1974. 50 years later, Kitzbühel Ski Club rewarded him with a chamois trophy live on Servus TV.
During the last few minutes of Servus TV’s "Sport & Talk" show late on Monday evening, Michael Huber, OC chief of the Hahnenkamm Races and President of Kitzbühel Ski Club, suddenly joined the discussion on the Seidlalm. He had obviously hidden something under his jacket and headed straight for Hansi Hinterseer, who had just been talking about his unforgettable home victory on the Ganslern Slope.
Hansi Hinterseer could not hide his surprise, when Michael Huber unveiled the chamois. Mission accomplished, as this was exactly the plan behind the KSC's secret project. The idea was inspired by the 50th anniversary of his triumph on the Ganslern in 1974 (his milestone birthday is also coming up). Back then, Hansi Hinterseer "only" received a regular winner’s cup for his victory, in stark contrast to Roland Collombin, who was able to take a chamois back to Switzerland for his success on the Streif in 1974.
Nowadays, every winner of a Hahnenkamm Race receives one of the coveted trophies in the form of Kitzbühel's heraldic animal.
