RACECOURSE PREPARATIONS ARE IN FULL SWING

08.01.2022

After fresh snowfall and favourable snow checks by FIS, work on the Hahnenkamm is back in full swing.  The weather forecast is good, as is the schedule.

Sunshine, blue skies and cold temperatures - with weather like this, it’s not only nice to head out for a spot of skiing, but preparing the slopes is a great pleasure too. It was minus ten degrees on Friday morning when the grooming machines ploughed their way up the Streif. Preparation work was carried out on the Start Slope, Steilhang and Hausberg. Racecourse conditions were hardly affected by the Christmas thaw. “The Streif is in great shape - even though it has been warm for the past ten days,” says Piste Manager, Herbert Hauser. “Artificial snow provided by the cable car operators is of such good quality, we were able to stave off this warm phase very well.”

After a crucial drop in temperatures, a dump of fresh snow arrived on the 5th and 6th January - around 20 centimetres on the mountains: “We are now mixing the fresh snow with the artificial snow and water, to create a compact layer,” explains Herbert Hauser, who is confident of developments over the next few days. “Everything is on schedule at the moment and the weather should also be on our side over the next few days, as it is forecast to stay cold.”
